Because pale skin is seen as the epitome of beauty in many cultures, particularly in Asia. Yet we see tan as a standard of beauty in North America. It's kind of sad really. We all think the grass is greener on the other side I guess.

here's to the power of pasty!

now I do everything possible to avoid a tan. I reapply my sunscreen religiously, stay in the shade as much as possible... it's ridiculous, but considering i don't even like the possibility of looking tan, and there's a history of skin cancer in my family, it's worth the "hassle"

It takes more than time to stay in one place. We’ll find you again, oh our traveling days..."

my apartment building has a pool, and so I always see all these old wrinkly women out tanning all gross, and that is motivation enough to wear my SPF 85. the skin cancer thing is a bonus too

Your off topic again :P And also I know people have told you this but... your not allowed to wear make-up in japanese schools so I think you should go by their rule. Isn't that what exchanges are for? To learn how they do thing? (and excperiance(?) culture, daily life but whatever :P)

Who are you talking to? Have you read the posts? I said that I wasn't going to wear makeup, because I love Japan so much. I said I wanted to go there for school to experience in the culture even if I couldn't wear makeup. Please read all of the posts first before you leave a reply so you actually have an idea of what has been said.

@tokyoviktoria: I think that Cutie_NYA was talking about our previous make up discussion concerning foundation. I'm Just guessing though.

@Cutie_NYA: Since you're new I'll tell you that if there is a post you want to reply to but it's not on the page you are on or if there's a few posts after it you can hit the "Quote" button and it will take what the other person wrote and then you can reply to it. That way no one will be confused as to whom you are talking to. Or you could always do what I do and write "@insertname" and then they know you are talking to them. You don't have to do any of that but I find it easier this way.

ok sorry if someone has already said something similar....

I leave in less than 3 weeks, and i was wondering if i should get on the pill before i leave... ill list the pros and cons... i really want to know what you guys think about it...

PROS
-Whenever i get stressed out my period goes wild and become very irregular
-i get really bad cramps and migraines
-If i met a really great guy, I want to be prepared
-control my acne with all of the stress

CONS
- I am a little freaked about asking my mom(but i know she would let me if i was adamant about getting on it, it would just be a bit awkward)
-Hassle of getting all the months worth of pills before i leave

Comments??
